Educational Leadership
for Sustainable Transformation

Systemic problems require systemic solutions

35.8% of children in Romania, i.e. 1.2 million, are at risk of poverty or social exclusion, much worse than among adults (30.2%); In rural areas, this risk reaches 44.3% in the case of children, i.e. 900,000 children;
In January 2020, over 275,000 children of compulsory school age (7-17 years) did not go to school, and the annual dropout rate reached 45,000 children from primary, secondary and high school;
Early school leaving: 15.2% of young people between 18-24 years have completed 8 school years or less, although the target set by Romania was to reduce the rate to 11.3% by the end of 2021.* (cf. according to data from INS centralized by Save the Children, Romania)
